Mac provides leadership support for the executive team in the areas of internal governance, corporate development and investment decision making. He has played key roles in numerous significant corporate transactions and capital-raising projects. Mac is an emeritus member of ARC’s Investment Committee.
Mac is a founder and former Chair of the board of ARC Resources Ltd. and was Chief Executive Officer of ARC from 1989 to 2000 and Chair from 2013 to 2016. His education includes post-graduate economic studies at Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Business from the Ivey Business School at Western University.
Mac is the recipient of numerous awards including the Distinguished Business Leadership Award from the Haskayne School of Business and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce (2014), the Chairperson of the Year award from the Alberta Oil Magazine (2015), the Institute of Corporate Directors Fellowship Award and a Calgary Business Hall of Fame Laureate (2016). In 2017, he received the Fraser Institute Founders’ Award.
